The Royal Ransomware attacked the City of Dallas, Texas in May 2023. Most affected were IT systems and communications of the Dallas Police Department with ransom notes printed by the network printers. Information including names, addresses and medical information of over 30,000 people were affected in this attack. The Dallas City Council approved $8.6 million in payments for services relating to the attack.
