On October 21st 2020, Gartner released their “Gartner Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends 2020.” Gartner predicts that the Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2020 will focus on interconnected People-Centric & Smart Spaces, both of which will have a profound impact on people and the spaces they occupy, spurring IT leaders to restructure their innovative creations.
According to the report, “Hyperautomation, blockchain, AI security, distributed cloud and autonomous things drive disruption and create opportunities in this year’s strategic technology trends.” Security has been a critical driving force in the rapid development of technology, due in part to institutions like Gartner, who focuses on Adaptive Security Architecture in their “Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends” reports for 2016 and 2017, and their “Continuous Adaptive Risk and Trust” report in 2018. Artificial Intelligence Security became one of the top ten strategic technology trends in 2020. According to the report, the continuous development of artificial intelligence provides opportunities for the commercial world to transform, but it may also create new potential attack and security vulnerabilities. Security teams must develop a deeper understanding of how AI will affect traditionally safe spaces.
Gartner provides three key areas of focus in the development of artificial intelligence security:
- Protecting AI-powered systems
- Leveraging AI to enhance security defense
- Anticipating nefarious use of AI by attackers
Sangfor Technologies, a vendor with 20 years’ experience in enterprise-level security construction, is already focused on developing AI security, committed to providing practical application for enterprise, and realizing future-oriented and effective protection. Sangfor Engine Zero, powered by artificial intelligence, was awarded the "2018 SKD Award" by SKD Labs, a leading independent testing facility, for its outstanding ability to detect unknown threats.
In contrast to other vendors anti-virus engines or open source anti-virus engines, Sangfor Engine Zero has proven itself doubly capable of detecting and eliminating unknown viruses and new variants of known viruses. AI technologies like machine learning and neural networks are also equipped with generalization ability. Through training based on known samples, Engine Zero efficiently detects unknown samples and new malicious files. Sangfor’s newest endpoint protection offering, Endpoint Secure, coupled with Engine Zero, has the ability to detect and eliminate new variant viruses like Globelmposter 3.0 and GandCrab V5.0.3 accurately, without any analysis of related samples.
Gartner also mentions an important trend toward distributed cloud, an evolution from centralized public cloud to distributed public cloud, indicative of a new era of cloud computing.
Cloud vendors are responsible for cloud service architecture, delivery, operation, management, and updates for distributed cloud. Moreover, distributed cloud data centers can decentralize traditional data centers, which not only solves technical problems like delays, but also deals with the challenge of supervision of data ownership. Ultimately, Gartner found that distributed cloud has many advantages of both public cloud services and local private cloud.
Technology has always been a driving force for innovative development. Sangfor invests heavily in continuous innovation, applying cutting-edge technology to products and services, and strives to simplify user experience. Sangfor’s HCI (also known as Sangfor aCloud) boasts ultra-simplified operation and high stability and performance, maintaining a market share ranking in the top three in the Chinese HCI software and hardware market (Source: IDC). Software defined hyperconverged technology is widely used in the mainstream market, with x86 architecture reducing user procurement cost and shortening the delivery cycle. The cloud management platform node with distributed technology does not need an independent server for management, ensuring Sangfor aCloud (HCI) is as elastic and flexible as public cloud, but more convenient than private cloud.
The release of the “Gartner Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends 2020” report will help enterprise architects seize opportunities and reduce adoption risk with advanced technologies. Focusing on Network Security, Cloud Computing and IT Infrastructure, Sangfor insists on continuous innovation, and the continuous and effective integration of advanced strategic technologies, helping our customers stay at the forefront of their industry, with a more convenient IT experience.
