About Hanshin University
Hanshin University (한신 대학교) is a private South Korean university located in the Seoul National Capital Area. It was established in 1940 as the first theological university in South Korea and has been a comprehensive university since 1980. The university embraces scholarship, devotion, truth, freedom, love, and peace and is dedicated to sharing and serving.
Hanshin University's IT Challenges
Hanshin University operates various information systems, such as its baccalaureate administration system, to manage its students and courses. However, the university lacked dedicated IT staff to manage these systems effectively. With a 10-year plan to undertake a next-generation “Advanced Administration” project aimed at the efficient usage of resources, their biggest goal was to virtualize existing servers and storage to maximize management efficiency.
Sangfor's Solution
Hanshin University leveraged Sangfor HCI (Hyperconverged Infrastructure) software to virtualize three of its existing Dell servers and storage (physical to virtual). Sangfor HCI is a software-defined data center (SDDC) solution that virtualizes the elements of traditional 3-tier data centers - compute, storage, and networking – into one unified system. With Sangfor HCI, Hanshin University benefited from:
- Simple deployment with Sangfor SDDC migration tools and efficient network virtualization through aNET.
- Unified management of all servers, data, and network operations through a user-friendly and intuitive web UI.
- Real-time data protection with continuous data protection (CDP) for five critical servers.
- In case of resource shortage, the university could scale out conveniently with the addition of linear nodes.
