Port of Venice (APV Investimenti) Overview
APV Investimenti S.p.A. is an investment, management, and development company that was founded in 2001 and is based in Venice, Italy. The establishment is owned by the Venice Port Authority and manages real estate projects and movable property related to the construction of port infrastructure, logistics, and intermodal shipping.
APV Investments constructs, manages, and renovates buildings while trading in real estate and lands of port interest. The company oversaw the development of the Port of Venice's telematics system – complete with Port Community, Single Window, Vessel Traffic Monitoring in Port, and Electronic Port Clearance systems through the Logistics Information System (LogIS) application and the port Venice web portal.
They manage the entire technological infrastructure of the Port of Venice and offer those services to all companies established in the port.

Business Pain-Points
The Port of Venice felt it was essential to take the next step towards a next-generation IT infrastructure solution. Their data center at the time consisted of a two-cluster active/passive infrastructure - based on VMware and HPE Apollo technology. This system became unstable and too complex to maintain and manage. They required a software-defined data center for effectiveness and superior IT functionality.
Additionally, the type of services provided by APV Investments require a business continuity model with minimum downtime - ideally aiming to have both the recovery point and recovery time objectives adding up to zero.
Sangfor’s Solution
Sangfor proposed the Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) platform which provides virtualization, networking, and storage with a centralized management interface. The solution was perfectly suited for APV Investments to continue to deliver their expert services successfully.
The Venetian port chose to deploy the Sangfor Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) in stretched active/active cluster mode. This setup allowed the system to tolerate the downfall of an entire domain while still ensuring minimal downtime due to its automatic failover capabilities for virtual objects on clusters geolocated on different sites.
End-User Experience
Sangfor’s Hyper-Converged Infrastructure stands for reliability and easy usage through an exceedingly flexible and high-performance, all-in-one infrastructure that combines network, storage, processing, and administrator services - all with an excellent user experience by leveraging a single interface to manage the entire infrastructure and clusters.
The Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) is easy to manage and control with scalable capabilities and the ability to integrate typical SDDC processing functions - including storage, networking, backup, and disaster recovery.
APV Investments found a dependable and all-inclusive cloud platform to invest in with Sangfor’s Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solution.
