Sangfor Named as a Representative Vendor for Full-Stack HCI Software
Recently, Gartner Inc., a company that delivers actionable, objective insight to executives and their teams., published the Market Guide for Full-Stack Hyperconverged Infrastructure Software1, in which Sangfor Technologies is named as 1 of 6 Representative Vendors. We believe that this research provides leaders of infrastructure and operations (I&O) with up-to-date information to consider if a full-stack HCI software solution is a good fit for their organization and to evaluate HCI software providers based on their implementation requirements.
A Burgeoning Full-Stack HCI Software Market
This is the first time Gartner published the Market Guide for Full-Stack Hyperconverged Infrastructure Software, defined by Gartner as "a complete software solution that includes virtualized compute, storage and networking from a single instantiation running on server hardware".
We think that the release of this new Market Guide reflects the growing popularity of full-stack HCI software, a market that Gartner reports is worth "more than $1 billion worldwide". The research also predicts that "through 2024, more than 75% of data center x86 workloads will continue to use hypervisor-based virtualization, down from approximately 80% in 2020, and despite cloud migration and container adoption". While this figure is a slight depreciation from 2020, we believe it still indicates the continued importance of the on-premises data center in spite of ongoing public cloud adoption with containers.
Moving Towards Deeper Convergence
According to the Market Guide, "this move to full stack aligns with one of the initial drivers of the HCI space — the preference for organizations to obtain a broader range of infrastructure support from a single provider." We believe this has prompted HCI software providers to increasingly converge more elements into their software stack, including infrastructure management and monitoring, cloud management, container management – and security in the case of Sangfor – on top of the traditional data center elements of compute, storage, and networking. The report also mentions that “HCI software has become the mechanism for driving solutions that are focused on specific use cases or geographic niches, while there are also some solutions that focus broadly on more cloud-related functionality.”
