Sangfor Maintains Position as a Representative Vendor for Full-Stack HCI
We are pleased to announce that Sangfor has been acknowledged as one of eight Representative Vendors in the Gartner Market Guide for Full-Stack Hyperconverged Infrastructure Software¹. This marks Sangfor’s second recognition in the guide since its first publication in 2023.
Gartner defines Representative Vendors as “a representative set of full-stack HCI software providers that offer their own server virtualization, software-defined storage and network-management capabilities.”
We believe our consecutive inclusions in the Market Guide underscore our continued excellence in HCI technology and our close alignment with market developments and end-user needs.
What is Full-Stack HCI software?
Full-stack HCI is an evolution from traditional HCI, which typically converges only the core data center elements of compute, storage, and networking.
From our perspective, to qualify as Full-Stack, HCI should offer a wide range of integrated software and services. This includes security capabilities, cloud management, backup and disaster recovery, container and microservices, orchestration and automation, and advanced analytics and monitoring tools. Full-stack HCI should offer a comprehensive solution for data center requirements, greatly simplifying the management of different infrastructures and tools.
The Market Guide notes that “Hyperconverged infrastructure software continues to increase in popularity,” and “The market for this full-stack HCI software is more than one billion worldwide.”
We see this growth in popularity as reflective of Gartner’s observation that “This move to full stack aligns with one of the initial drivers of the HCI space — the preference for organizations to get a broader range of infrastructure support from a single provider. Having only one provider to contact as a source of support is regarded as saving time and therefore costs.”
A Key Insight from the Market Guide: Revirtualization
Our analysis of the Market Guide reveals a central theme: the concept of “Implement[ing] full-stack HCI as a revirtualization path.” Specifically, it points out that “Vendor dynamics result in a third of the private cloud infrastructure looking to revirtualize the incumbent vendors — especially as virtual storage and network increase bundling and costs — and drive potential change to the HCI vendor dynamics.”
We believe this is reflective of the industry’s growing interest in reevaluating and possibly upgrading or replacing existing virtualization technologies with more advanced or varied alternatives.
Critically, the Market Guide makes the Strategic Planning Assumption that “The 30% of the non-VMware full-stack HCI installed base that exists in 2024 will increase to 60% by 2029.”
